Do Aromatherapy Oils And Candles Really Work?

July 9th, 2009    Subscribe To Our Feed

When I last visited the store, it seemed as though everywhere I turned there were many different products promising results, which were simply based on the fact that they contained a specific aromatherapy scent, which would include candles, oils, and shampoos. But, there was one key question that kept popping up in my head: are all these aromatherapy treatments just fluff, which are aimed at selling more products to consumers or could they be linked to some actual research?

The art of aromatherapy has been in people’s lives since the time of the Egyptians many centuries ago. Yet we, as individuals, experience this very phenomenon each day and many of us are not aware that we are or what it could mean for us. You will probably find that there are a number of times when you have walked down the street or entered a room only to get a whiff of something which brought back wonderful memories; or it made you feel really great and energized. You will also find that every time you do so you are experiencing aromatherapy, which is something passively occurring in your everyday daily life.

The resulting fact is that aromatherapy is based on science, of which studies have shown reflect on the interactions between the psychological, neurological and immune system. Also, current research has identified there to be a strong correlation between the positive and negative experiences, together with our immune system and psyche. You will also find that the old adage of mind over body is understood and recognized by science, and that it is appreciated by the modern medical field. However, we do need to appreciate that you are able to give your mood a boost by creating a more positive outlook by using aromatherapy, and by doing so you are ultimately strengthening your overall mind, body and spirit.

You will find that aromatherapy actually works because it utilizes your sense of smell, which is your strongest sense. Dislike other, your sense of smell has a path that leads directly to the brain, but more importantly that it has a direct path to your limbic system.

Although aromatherapy utilizes the sense of smell by triggering specific parts of the brain it also works by directly absorbing the essential oil molecules into our bodies, whether it is through the bronchial tract when using a differ or steam distillation or through the skin in a massage or bath.

You will find that although aromatherapy does utilize a person’s sense of smell, by triggering some specific areas of the brain, it will also work by directly absorbing some essential oil molecules into the body. It will do this whether through the bronchial tract (if using steam distillation) or through massaging or soaking the skin with the oil.

For example, if a person uses peppermint oil, then it has been proven that the most effective way to has been known for its ability to calm a person’s digestive problems and will work better when inhaled, but there will be others that will work better when they are massaged into a person’s skin.

It is important also to recognize that although certain essential oils have specific benefits they do not work equally for each individual. For instance Lavender is considered to be very effective in calming the mind, body and spirit however if you do not like the fragrance of Lavender it will not have the same effect on you, therefore it is important to work with the essential oils that you enjoy.

Finding the ones that you can use the most will be quite simple, as you will find most essential oils have similar or overlapping benefits. Thus, this will leave you with a different range of options to choose from. You will also find that there is also one other option, which is to mix together a number of different essential oils and create your own fragrance. Some people choose this because they can ultimately receive vast benefits they have to offer.

Top Tips To Natural Healing At Home

July 8th, 2009    Subscribe To Our Feed

Many of us will have been taught to hide or cure our physical symptoms on our own, or even to have surgery or medication to get rid of them. When we actually do this, we are telling our subconciousness that, as an individual, we aren’t important, and we insist that we haven’t the time to heal ourselves naturally. But, if we look at the first symptoms that we have had, then we can treat these as the first indication that something is untoward. We can treat ourselves with natural remedies and cure most of our health related issues. You will find that your body will tell you the truth and you will learn from your own emotions and challenges.

When you look at yourself in the mirror, you may recognise that your own emotional pain as a “physical art form,” and that it will transform before you and your body will heal a devastating disease. Personally and by the age of 35, I felt comfortable in my new clothes, home and car. Many different companies hired me to help them with their business problems, and I would normally work at least 14 hours a day.

But, I received terrible news whilst I was in a medical specialist’s office as he diagnosed me with rosacea - a skin disease that is incurable, deforming, and disfiguring. Because I had treated myself as a machine, I was now paying the price - and the disease would show me no mercy as it continued to get worse over the next few years. I spent all of my financial resources going to medical specialists and naturopathic practitioners. I had the need to understand how my own body’s immune system would be able to heal and repair me.

I believed in the body being in its own environment and chose not to take any form of medication. After I had spoken to over fifty doctors, I still found myself searching for the answers. I became determined in proving that there was something that could help me heal myself naturally, but after all this time I maybe doubted myself.

Once I had progressed into my 40’s, I could see my skin was worse, it was red and inflamed, and I had daily boils. I also found that the sight in my eyes was going and was unable to read drive and watch tv all that well either. Obviously, this had a significant impact on the plans and dreams I had in my life. I would come to realise and think, mostly when I was alone, that I sympathised with people who had taken their own lives because of the pain.

A few years later I went to visit a Chinese doctor who diagnosed me with something different from the other physicians. He believed the disease was not simply just my face, but included the natural biological rhythms of my body being out of harmony. He said this resulted in my face being directly affected due to emotional fear and stress. Also, he saw other signs that my body was exhausted when he examined me. He said that my body looked frail, and that I should find peace at whatever price. I was so glad that he had given me a different opinion.

After I had spoken with the doctor I looked at my emotional therapy. I first looked at the different fears that I had which affected me since I had been diagnosed, and I also went back further through my past. I looked at myself in the mirror and looked at what I had done to cause this disease - which had been caused by being a workaholic. And, when I looked back I see that I denied many different personal things in life. Also, had felt worthless and needed to push the addiction forward. I had the thought of staying busy but this resulted in my own exhaustion and consequently caused me to feel angry and resentful. Through the years I had served others which negatively impacted on my life and I failed to do anything until my friend stepped in.

I shared my story for a number of years with other people, and I had cried and tried to release some of the pent-up emotion inside, and I also became heavily involved with the local community. I came across a miracle that I healed my body naturally and without taking any medication, which meant my scars disappeared and my eye sight returned to normal. I followed a healthy diet and exercise regularly which helped my body in the transformation - something that we should all trust in ourselves.

Essential oils or aromatherapy oils have been around for thousands of years based on accounts that place the first uses of aromatherapy in 3,000 BC by the Egyptian people. The primary uses of aromatherapy oils and essential oils then was for embalming, cosmetics and medicinal purposes.

From the Egyptians the aromatherapy knowledge was then passed to the Greeks who took it to the next level with several discoveries regarding the physical effects of fragrances, herbs and flowers.

This knowledge was passed on to the Greeks and served as the basis for more discoveries, including the relaxing and stimulating effects of the fragrance of some flowers. Going back further, ancient man’s dependence on the environment for all his basic needs and survival led him to discover natural ways of food preservation and the treatment of various conditions using herbs and aromatics.

These days aromatherapy is almost synonymous with the alternative medicines definition of good health. Party because of the increase in costs of conventional medicine such as surgery and medicare and partly due to a better understanding of how aromatherapy works, these processes have been gaining a significant amount of attention and popularity.

The primary benefits of aromatherapy have to do with providing the basis for physical, mental and spiritual well being. All this achieved through entirely natural means. The primary components of aromatherapy are oils, aromatherapy oils or most commonly referred to as essential oils.

The oils are made from different plants and herbs, fruit, flowers bark and other types of organic materials. According to experts it is not easy to get the essential oils from the plants. It is a tough and time consuming process that requires expertise and patience. It is also expensive. For instance, to make a single 10ml of oil requires the processing of 220 pounds of rose pedals.

How Aromatherapy Can Benefit You And Your Family

July 4th, 2009    Subscribe To Our Feed

When I last visited the store, it seemed as though everywhere I turned there were many different products promising results, which were simply based on the fact that they contained a specific aromatherapy scent, which would include candles, oils, and shampoos. But, there was one key question that kept popping up in my head: are all these aromatherapy treatments just fluff, which are aimed at selling more products to consumers or could they be linked to some actual research?

Aromatherapy as a practice has been around for centuries dating back to the ancient Egyptians however as individuals we experience this phenomenon in our everyday lives with out even being aware of the fact. How many times have you walked down a street or into a room and suddenly gotten a whiff of something that brought back wonderful memories or just made you feel great and energized? Every time this occurs you are experiencing aromatherapy; it is just occurring passively in your daily life.

The bottom line is aromatherapy is indeed based on science and more specifically the science of psychoneuroimmunology which studies the interactions between the psychological, neurological and immune system. Research has shown that there is a very strong correlation between positive and negative experiences and our immune system as well as our psyche. Further more the old adage mind over body is indeed recognized by science and the modern medical field. With this being said, anytime you can give your mood a boost creating a more positive outlook through the use of aromatherapy you are ultimately strengthening your body, mind and spirit.

You will find that aromatherapy actually works because it utilizes your sense of smell, which is your strongest sense. Dislike other, your sense of smell has a path that leads directly to the brain, but more importantly that it has a direct path to your limbic system.

It has been scientifically and medically proven that through this direct portal, aromas are able to directly affect conscious thought and your reactions, because the limbic system is responsible for our memories (from short to long term), learned responses, and our emotions and feelings.

This dual absorption enables you to receive all the benefits of essential oils however it is important to research the essential oil of interest as each one works more efficiently when applied differently. For instance peppermint has long been known for its ability to calm digestive problems and does work best for this specific application when inhaled while others work better when massaged into the skin.

This is easy to do because many essential oils have similar or overlapping benefits, leaving you with a number of options for one particular issue. Another option is to mix a couple or a few essential oils together to create your own fragrance that you enjoy and can ultimately receive the vast benefits they have to offer.
